Your contribution will uplift and empower activist-artists globally, amplifying their voices and ensuring their safety through increased financial support, a secure platform for their work, and expanded opportunities to address their concerns.

This nonprofit uses all creative media to effect positive social change in the world. They open space for conversation between creative change makers (art-activists) and decision-makers in government and politics. They offer artistic programs highlighting and safeguarding art-activists, by promoting freedom of expression, human rights, and social justice around the world. Their vision is that art-activism is honored as a human right and a source of social change.

2. Craft Your Poetic Truth and Discover the Power of Words to Ignite Change

Unleash your team’s poetic potential in a transformative workshop that empowers you to craft your own truths inspired by the rich traditions of poetry.

  • 1.5 hours

  • Online/in-person (NYC)

  • 10-50 participants

  • $100/participant

What you’ll do

Unleash your poetic potential and embark on a transformative journey through time with Poetic License—a workshop that empowers you to craft your own truth. As Amanda Gorman, the youngest Presidential Inaugural poet, aptly stated, “Poetry is always at the pulse of the most dangerous and the most daring questions that a nation or a world might face.”

In this workshop, an esteemed poet will guide you through an exploration of medieval mystical poetry. Through engaging readings and thought-provoking discussions, you'll delve into the rich tapestry of Christian, Muslim, and Jewish traditions, where vibrant imagery and profound metaphors illuminated the spiritual path.

With newfound inspiration, you'll be able to unleash your creativity by writing your own poem, drawing from the medieval style to weave your own poetic tapestry. By infusing your verses with the essence of an activist or social justice issue that deeply resonates with you, you'll transcend the boundaries of time and engage in a poetic dialogue with the present. You'll have a supportive environment to nurture your creativity, providing an opportunity for those who wish to share their poetic creations to receive brief discussions and feedback.

Together, your team will explore the power of poetry to illuminate truths and ignite the flames of change in the world. Pay homage to the timeless art form that unites hearts and minds across the globe!

Agenda:

  • Introduction to the IHRAM (5 minutes)

  • Conversation Starter (5 minutes)

  • Introduction, Reading, and Discussion on Medieval Spiritual Poetry (35 minutes)

  • Writing Poems (35 minutes)

  • Sharing and Discussing Poems (35 minutes)
